Notes from external profile
Edward is listed in the 1860 Maine census as being fourteen years of age when living in Carroll and probably was eighteen at the time the family moved to Pemberton Ridge, North Lake Parish, York County, New Brunswick.
Edward and Olive lived at Pemberton Ridge where Edward had a fifty-acre grant of land near by his father, Jacob's, grant. This land was granted to Edward about 1882.
About 1892, Edward and Olive moved from Pemberton Ridge to Eel River Lake District on a small acreage of land which was on a corner of John G. Smith's (son-in-law) property. Here, Edward had built a house where he and Olive lived until their deaths.
Baptist Church records at Forest City, New Brunswick., state that Edward Cosman was transferred from that church in 1902. Edward was a Baptist lay preacher for New Brunswick and also was licensed to preach in the State of Maine. He taught Sunday School classes.
Edward Cosman did carpentry work and was a very good carpenter; raised gardens and did farm jobs such as picking potatoes, etc. He framed barns, made sleds for woods work and sold them. When he became older and could not do heavy work, he made axe handles, peavey handles, hand sleds and probably other small wooden articles for sale.
When Edward was over sixty years of age, he walked from Eel River Lake to Foxcroft Road near Houlton, Maine, and picked potatoes for his son-in-law, Howard Seeley. After potato harvesting was over, he walked back home which was a distance of approximately twenty-five miles or more. This was about 1908.
