Michael was born about 1821,[1] In 1824,[2] 1828,[3][4] or 1831 in Ireland.

He became a US citizen in 1856 at the US District Court of New Haven while living in New Haven,[6] suggesting he arrived in the United States sometime on or before 1851.
As of 1860, he was a carriage smith living in New Haven with his wife and three children.[7] As of 1870, he was living with his wife and five children in New Haven.[8] As of 1880, he was living with his wife and three of their children at 131 Dixwell Avenue in New Haven.[9]
As of 1880, Michael did not know how to write.[10]
He passed away in 1895 and was buried at Saint Bernard's Cemetery in New Haven.[11]
