Dora Cotter was born on 3rd July, 1857 and was baptised on the 6th April, 1859 at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, Yass.
Dora Cotter married John SPEERING on the 12th November, 1873 at the age of 16, at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, Yass and Fr. A.T. O'Dwyer officiated. John Speering was born in 1843.
They settled in Murrumburrah New South Wales, near the town of Young. It is a "twin" town of Harden-Murrumburrah.

The influenza pandemic appears to be getting a pretty strong hold at Murrumburrah. Mr Speering's death at Aurville, about four miles out of town, a couple of weeks ago, is generally believed to have been due to pneumonic influenza, though the local doctors differed about it at the time. ↑ Mrs. John Speering. Daughter of Michael and Mary(sic) Catherine Cotter. An old and highly esteemed resident of Aurvill (near Murrumburrah) passed away on Sunday morning last. We refer to Mrs. Speering, widow of the late Mr. John Speering, who died about twelve years ago. (17th November, 1925.) The deceased lady was 82 years of age. She had enjoyed fairly good health. About a fortnight prior to her death she became ill, and gradually grew worse, death taking place as stated. She is survived by five sons and one daughter.
