Her birth and parents are unknown. [1] Estimating that she was about 30 years old at the time, she was born say, 1690.
The Cottrell plantation was at the "head of the Wicomico River", which flows into the Potomac River in Charles County, Maryland. The head of the river would be near the current intersection of Route US 301 and Maryland 234 south of Port Tobacco in Charles County.
In James Cottrell's 1722 will, Rachel is assigned to James Cottrell's wife Anne. [1]
