According to family records and stories, Freddie died from a concussion after a fall.
Fact: Residence (1880) Tarkio, Atchison, Missouri, United States
Research Notes
Ort Bachelor lists Freddie's birth and death place as Atchison County, Missouri near Tarkio while Orra lists it as Center Point, Missouri. Ort notes that Freddie died in a leap year, so that would be 1880 or 1884, but in this case, I trust Orra because Freddie was her brother. Freddie is listed as Fred I. Coulter on the 1880 census index; other sources give his middle name as Leslie.
