Biography

Mary Council was born about 1713 in Isle of Wight, Virginia to parents Hardy Council and Susannah Fulgham. She married first Henry Applewhite IV about 1729 in Isle of Wight, Virginia. Children: Amy, Henry, Thomas, Priscilla, John, Benjamin. After her husband Henry died in 1739 she married second Phillip Brantley about 1745 in Isle of Wight, Virginia. She died after her husband Phillip's death (1775) in Halifax, North Carolina.

Phillip Brantley had three children by his first wife, John, William and Joseph.

"Henry Applewhite m. Mary ___. Had son, Henry, and dau., Amy. He d. young and his widow m. 2nd Phillip Brantley. They had land in Halifax Co. No. Car." (Virginia Gazette)
