Leonard was born in 1882 ^[1]

NORTH CANTERBURY GAZETTE, VOLUME 8, ISSUE 30, 21 JULY 1938 The pioneer boy cyclists to school were Arnold Butt and Leonard Coup. The latter's machine was the more primitive, having solid tyres, a block chain, and the bearing serving the moving parts were merely turned iron, ball bearing not having come into general use. Master Coup became so embarrassed with the numerous requests for a ride on his machine that he used to leave it at Mr Kiddo smithy in Peraki Street and walk the remaining distance to school.

DEATHS. ^[5] COUP—On April 15 1942, at Masterton, Mary, beloved wife of Leonard Coup, and elder daughter of the late Michael and Annie Doody, Oxford. R.I.P. ^[6]

Leonard died 2 Aug 1947, Masterton, New Zealand. ^[7] He is buried in the Archer Street Cemetery, Masterton, Wellington, New Zealand. ^[8][9]
