Hi Jane,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Hi Jane,

I noticed you added a note to Thomas Arnold (abt.1604-abt.1674)'s profile that he and his spouse are your 9th great grandparents. As Robin said below, please do not post your relationships to profiles. Thomas Arnold's profile is a PGM Project Managed Profile. The PGM Project does not support having these "related to" type of comments, and we archive them. Instead, as Robin suggested, you can use a Relationship Sticker on your own profile to show your relationship to he and Phebe.

Hi Jane,

I noticed a comment on a Project managed profile where you were celebrating your connection with that person. With almost 1 million members, we ask that you do not post relationships on "famous people". We ask that you celebrate your connection with a sticker on your own profile. See https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Relationship_Stickers

Hello distant cousin Jane. Thank you for your contributions to Wikitree. Please note that Québécois names have different conventions. Please read the information from the Québécois Project when considering altering existing profiles or creating new ones. For example Québécois do not have a middle name and married women do not take their husband's name(s). https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Quebecois#Guidelines_on_Names

Also please note that Nos Origines/Genealogy of Canada is not considered a source. It is a good place to start the search for the original documents though.

Have a great day and enjoy your Wikitree journey. Christine

Hi Jane, I noticed you added a source at the top of a profile. Sources are to be at the bottom, in the source section.

I needed a lot of help when I joined WIkiTree and you may also. Please consider asking a mentor for assistance. Thank you.

Hi Jane, I sent you a message. I'm looking forward to working with you! Valerie Penner
Hi Jane,

Please be sure to add reliable sources. Also, they should be placed in the Sources section, not above the Biography heading. S Willson

Hi Jane

We are so happy you decided to upgrade to the Family Member level.

Please visit our tutorial pages to learn how to use WikiTree: How To Use WikiTree. They will save you time, energy, and frustration as you add your family profiles.

Exploring the site is the best way to learn. One way to do that is to check out the drop-down menus on the top right side of your profile page. Finding a known ancestor and collaborating with the profile manager is another great way to start.

Questions? You can always use the G2G link in the Help Menu to find answers.
