Ellen M was born on 22 Nov 1869 in Shohola Township, Pike, Pennsylvania, United States, daughter of John J. Coursen (1822 - 1907) and Margaret Eleanor (Middaugh) Coursen (1827 - 1907).

Ellen married Fred Le Bay on December 21, 1892 in Manhattan, New York, New York, United States. They had three known children, one who died unnamed in infancy in 1894, and two daughters, Edna C and Freda.

Ellen died about Apr 1971 in New Jersey aged ~101.
