Biography
John was born in 1630. He was the son of John Courtenay and Margaret Wyndham.
He married Mary Stucley of Affeton. Together they had the following children:
- Sarah bap. 16 Dec. 1652, bur. 5 Feb. 1658/9 at Molland.
- Joan bap. 17 Apr. 1657,[1] bur. 5 April 1658 at Molland.
- Margaret bur. 27 Apr. 1657 at Molland.
- John bur. 27 Nov. 1657 at Molland.
- John B. 23 Sep. 1659,[2] m. Amy Clifford, issue
- Grace bap. 8 May 1667 at Molland.[3]
- James bap. 19 Jan. 1672/3,[4] bur. 25 Apr. 1727 at Molland.
John, Grace and James are named in the Will of their grandmother, Margaret Wyndham Courtenay, probated 1697. [5]
He died on the 24th April and was buried on the 4th May 1684 at Molland.

Courtney-80 and Courtenay-1070 are more likely matches (same birth/death dates) but one is the husband and the other is the son of Margaret (Wyndham) Courtenay. I would say we are looking at father and son with the same name and some more research is needed to fully clarify the biographies of each.
