DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships by comparing test results with Vincent or other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA.
Y-chromosome DNA test-takers in his direct paternal line on WikiTree:
Vincent Courtney:
Family Tree DNA Y-DNA Test 700 markers, haplogroup R-BY47253, FTDNA kit #654156, MitoYDNA ID T19738[compare]
Mitochondrial DNA test-takers in the direct maternal line:
Vincent Courtney:
Family Tree DNA mtDNA Test Full Sequence, haplogroup H14b1, FTDNA kit #654156, MitoYDNA ID T19739[compare]
* Savard, Denis, Administrator, Mothers of Acadia mtDNA Project reports mtDNA Test Results (Accessed 8 Dec 2023), Kits: tester1 654156 tester2 80680. EKA: Perrine Bourg - Spouse of Simon Pelletret. Haplogroup: H14b1.
Savard, Denis, Administrator, Mothers of Acadia mtDNA Project reports this diagram depicting matrilineal descent, from the Mothers of Acadia DNA Project for more information.
Maternal relationship is confirmed through Mitochondrial DNA test results on Family Tree DNA. Hi Chris. One of your arguments for merging Rimbault-27 into Rimbault-7 was the wife, "Anne Marie". When I was comparing these two Rimbaults, there was no mention of Anne Marie in Rimbault-27. And I looked at that record throughly to make sure it wasn't there because you seemed confident that it was there. And the birth and death date information is very far apart, much more than one usually finds in a usual merge situation. Yet the birth dates are not distant enough to think this may be a father and son. I am always hesitant to merge unless several facts line up, and this comparison wasn't close as far as I could determine. That doesn't mean that your view will not ultimately be determined to be correct.
Just a heads up . . . you added your yDNA test information to your profile but this test will not be connected to paternal-line family members unless the Privacy Level is changed to "Private with a Public Family Tree" or higher.
Hi Vincent, As I posted on the profiles, the mother of Catherine Bugaret is unknown, therefore, Bernard Bugaret has no spouse. If we disconnect Bugard-1, which we must per WikiTree rules, that profile will be useless. The rule is that we cannot put parents on a profile unless we have some evidence that they are her parents. The evidence is to the contrary. She is unknown as both Godbout and Stephen A White state. Please read the sources on Bugaret-2 and reconsider your rejection of the merge. Let's discuss. Thanks for responding to the merge request.
The Acadians Project is being profiled on a Wikitree Video. They are interested in a brief person in the street description of the project and whats new.
Our Acadians project will be profiled June 17 on the WikiTree blog. It will have a table of Acadian First Families including highlights from their profiles. Please check out your family lines here to see if any fixes are needed. Best wishes Annette
Hi, Vincent. Thanks for cross-checking the DesRoche lines, between your tree & mine. Do you know about the publication of Marcel Barriault's intensive research on the DesRoches lineage? It's the entire issue of Les Cahiers de la Societe historique acadienne for Sept 2006 (vol. 37, nos. 2 & 3) -- Societe address: PO Box 632, Monctgon NB E1C 8M7. - John deRoche [email address removed] .
