Biography
John Courtney was born in Illinois to a father born in Ireland and a mother born in Denmark. He was a lumberman in Minnesota and Idaho. He married Mary Hall in 1903 in Idaho, and appears to have adopted her two daughters. In 1914, he committed suicide.
