DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships by comparing test results with Stan or other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA. Y-chromosome DNA test-takers in his direct paternal line on WikiTree:
  • Stan Courtney: Family Tree DNA Y-DNA Test 111 markers, haplogroup R-FGC32816, FTDNA kit #264834
Mitochondrial DNA test-takers in the direct maternal line:
  • Stan Courtney: Family Tree DNA mtDNA Test Full Sequence, haplogroup U5b1d1, FTDNA kit #264834
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Stan:

Hi Stan

Congratulations on being Pre-1700 certified! Now it's time to pick a project that best fits the pre-1700 profiles you'll be working on.

Is there a particular time period, location, or topic you're interested in? Do you have some historically-significant ancestors? Explore the list of active projects to see if one fits your needs.

Once you find a project that interests you, visit their project page for more information and to find out how to join. You can also use the Following link to add the project tag to your profile, and you'll be updated on activity that occurs for that project.

Can't find what you're looking for? Let me know, and I can make some suggestions! :-)

Hello Stan

Great to see you on Wikitree. I actually started the Courtney Courtenay Name Study not long ago. It's still a work in progress. Let me know if any of it needs correcting and feel free to add more resources etc!

I noticed you uploaded a GEDCOM. Here's a link to a great step-by-step of the process including screenshots that you might find helpful.

The help pages give lots of information about the process, best to start with 'Before you import a GEDCOM'. ~Michele~
