Ernest Howard Covey (22) son of Albert and Betty married Antoinette Lantz (21) daughter of William and Rachel on Dec 19, 1898 at Tancook.[1]
Ernest Harold Covey of First South passed away early Monday morning, February 26th, at the Fishermen's Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.[2] He was 85 years of age and was born at Indian Harbour, Halifax County. He was married to the former Antoinette Lantz of Tancook, who passed away in 1951.
Mr Covey lived for many years on Tancook and engaged in shore and deep sea fishing. He moved with his family to First South in 1923 and continued fishing. Later with his son Lester he was a well known fox rancher. Deceased is survived by three daughters and one son; Mrs Angus L Tanner, Mrs Robert Allen, of Lunenburg, and Miss Fanny Covey at home, Lester Covey of Dartmouth. There are seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. He also had a number of brothers and sisters but was the last surviving member of his family.
The funeral service was from the United Church, First South, conducted by Rev Murray Gardner of Mahone Bay. Interment was in the family plot at centre.
