Biography

Nancy Caroline Covey was a first daughter and child of Joseph Covey and Rosannah Barringer. She was born 20 September 1804 in Montgomery County, Virginia, USA. She married John Graham Adkins "Jack" on 23 Mar 1823 in Bedford County, Tennessee. To this union 12 children were born: 1) Harriet Ford 2) Wm Covey 3) Charles Barringer 4) Merriann "Mary" M. "Polly" 5) John Watson 6) Roseanna Margaret 7) Joseph Morgan 8) Thomas Cox 9) Elizabeth Jane 10) Nancy Caroline 11) Samuel Andrew 12) Francis Marion (male) Adkins. These children were born in Bedford Co., TN and near Tuscaloosa, Tuscaloosa Co., AL. John and Nancy lived in Paducah, McCracken Co., KY after children were born and around 1860 moved to Metropolis City P.O., Massac Co., IL until they died.

Research

Nancy Covey was a native of Bedford Co., TN. She had two brothers that lived in Benton Co., AR. One was named Welcome and the other, William Covey. Samuel Adkins stated that he never seen any of Nancy's relatives. [1]

Welcome's full name was Welcome Boy COVEY and William was in fact, John Nap COVEY, not William. [2]

The KY Death Cert of her daughter Roseanna Adkins McMahan states that her father's name was John Atkins b: USA and mother's name was Margaret Covey b: USA. Roseanna's husband was the individual who provided the Death Cert information.
