Birth Abt. 1802 • Buncombe County, NC Born between 1802-1804, name could be spelled as Cowen or Cowan. Missouri branch of the family believe that his middle name was Canada. The NC branch believe that his brother John had the middle name of Canada.
James last documented residence in Buncombe County, NC was James selling his 147 acres of property on Pole Creek to Martin Luther, Sale not recorded in the Buncombe County Deed Book until 28 June 1837.
