Sarah Robertson Cowan was born in Presston, Connecticut c1856, daughter of Alexander and Marion (Robertson) Cowan, who came to the United States from Scotland in 1848. [1]
She married James Clarence Davis at Norwich, Connecticut on September 28, 1875. James, the son of Alpha Ezekiel and Jane (Withey) Davis was born February 19, 1854 in Moline, Illinois. His mother died shortly after his birth and his father Alpha returned with his infant son to the Withey family homestead in Pomfret, Connecticut. [1]
They resided at in Connecticut and later in Worcester, Massachusetts, where James was a policeman. [1]
He died in 1911 and Sarah lived with her daughter Marion Hoyt at Worcester, and then later with her daughter Charlotte Hannum in Upper Darby Township, Pennsylvania. [1]
Sarah died in 1940, likely in Pennsylvania. She was buried in Hope Cemetery, Worcester, Massachusetts. [2]
