Biography

Sarah was born in 1854. She was the daughter of George Coward and Jane Young Haldane.^[1]

In her husband's obituary, date 30 September 1920) it states that "...The second wife was Sarah Ann Coward, the eldest daughter of the late Mr. George Coward, and by this marriage there -were five daughters, who, with the widow, survive. There are also 20 grandchildren..."^[2]

She passed away in 1929. "SPENDER.—On the 12th June, at her son-in-law's residence, No. 17, Frederick-street, Welland South, Sarah Ann, beloved wife of the late Thomas Job Spender, of Balhannah, and loved mother of Eva, Mary, Minnie, Louie, Lizzie, step-mother of Frank, Herman, Ethel, aged 74." ^[3]
