Biography

John Cox, b. about 1715 married 9 Oct 1735 Mary Harlan [Harlan-6].[1]

"NEW GARDEN MM, CHESTER CO., PA p. 105

"John Cocks son of John Cocks of Londongrove in ye County of Chester in ye Province of Pensilvenia & Mary Harlan Dau of Mosses Harlan of ye same please. 9, 8m, 1735 . at ye Meeting house of Newgarden ..."

Witnesses signed, and the third column is as follows: John Cocks, Mary Cocks, Moses Harlan, Margret Harlan, Jno Cocks, Mary Cocks, ...[1] Following the Quaker's common practice, this shows the groom and bride signing first and underneath the parents of the bride and the parents of the groom sign the marriage record.

The 27th day of the 7th month, 1735, John and Mary Harlan appeared to indicate they want to continue their intention of marriage. [2]
