Andrew Franklin Cox, enlisted in the 4th Ky Inf. US Volunteers, Spanish American War on June 1, 1898 for two years. He was discharged a Corporal at Anniston Alabama February 12, 1899. was a Constable of the New Virginia Precinct, No. 2 Lee Co. Ky.

After returning to Ky and settling down near Crystal, in Lee County Ky. he worked.
at many different jobs, he was a Notary Public, and a surveyor as his name appears on many Deeds in Lee Co. and ran for public office several times, He was considered to be a country lawyer who assisted neighbors in filing legal papers etc. He also wrote articles for the Beattyville Times newspaper, and has poem(s) published in.

He is buried in the Crabtree Cemetary at the Mr. Paran Church at Little Sinking Ky along with Ethelbert Cox (son), Clyde Hogan (brother in law), and Rudell Cox (son). 1
