Biography

Vincent Cox was born in 1742, in Westmoreland county, Virginia, a son of George Cox and Eleanor Lamkin. In 1765, Vincent married Lucinda Abernathy, a daughter of Robert and Sarah Abernathy. Children of Vincent and Lucinda include:

  • Vincent Cox, Jr. named as bondsman for his sister, Lucinda's marriage to Patrick Downey on March 2, 1802
  • Lucinda "Lucy" Cox, born 1783, in Lincoln county, North Carolina, died in November, 1865, in Harrison Township, Knox county, Indiana, married Patrick Downey, on March 2, 1802, in Lincoln county, North Carolina. [1]
  • James Cox, born circa 1790, died after 1850, in Perry county, Missouri, married Sally Cobb, on June 3, 1815, in Lincoln county, named as Bondsman for marriage of Isabella Cox and Walter Cobb.
  • Isabella Cox, born 1794, in North Carolina, died Bollinger county, Missouri, married Walter Cobb [2]

Vincent Cox died in 1808, in Lincolnton Township, Lincoln county, North Carolina and is buried in the Robert Abernathy Plantation Cemetery. [3]
