Lisa, you are doing a fantastic job on Wikitree. I'm going to take credit for having gotten you hooked. :-)

I might recommend setting the Privacy of deceased persons as Open, or in some way Public, rather than fully Private.

  1. Fully private profiles don't show when creating new ones, leading to more duplicates.
  2. Wikitree collaboration is a beautiful thing. It's great to have other people helping to improve profiles.
  3. Other relatives (like me) enjoy seeing their cousins and relationships.

Really happy to have you working on Wikitree. I'm always available for assistance or tips should you ever want any. - Bill

I would suggest examining some well-formatted profiles that you find pleasing. Edit them to see how they are formatted. It's an easy way to learn about what works well. FYI:

  • Adding an "*" to the beginning of a source, or any line, makes a bullet point.
  • Adding a colon ":" to the beginning indents the line.

Lisa, welcome to WikiTree. Thank you for making additions to the Global Family Tree.

I want to remind you that it is absolutely critical to add sources when creating new profiles. Primary sources (not just family trees are essential for the way WikiTree operates.

There is a helpful "RootsSearch" link on each profile that works as a gateway to other genealogy sites, Ancestry, Family Search, Find a Grave, etc. If I can be of help, please do not hesitate to contact me.
