THEY DIED TOGETHER
An Aged Couple, Formerly Philadelphians, Die from Suffocation
The death is announced of Mr. and Mrs. Bowman Sailer, formerly of this city, in Georgetown, D.C., where they have resided for some years. Mr. Sailer was in the eighty-second year of his age, and his wife, to whom he had been united for many years, was over seventy. The aged couple were found dead in bed yesterday morning, and investigation showed that their unexpected death was due to suffocation. Whether from coal or burning gas had not transpired at last accounts. They had retired the evening before in their usual health.
Mr. Sailer was a brother of the late Joseph Sailer, of this city, and consequently uncle to Isaac D. Sailer, and to the late Randolph Sailer, formerly with Powers & Weightman’s Chemical Works. The deceased was formerly in business in this city as a coal merchant, his office being at Fifth and Willow Streets. He was a member of the Society of Friends, as are many of the Sailer family, who are still settled in the vicinity of Gloucester, N.J., where years ago quite a number of families of the name resided.
