Biography

1900 Philip Hugh Cox Jr was born on the 12th of Nov 1900 in the town of Montclair, Essex County, New Jersey, USA. [10]

1910 According to the Federal Census of 1910 Philip had one sister and one brother and had been the first child born in his family. His father was born in New York, while his mother was born in England. They still lived in the town of Montclair which is the town he was born in. At nine years of age Philip was attending school and could already read and write. [1]

1920 Philip was now nineteen years old and life for his family seem to be improving. His father was a manage of a Freelance Business, which afforded him the ability to own his own home for the first time. [2]

1920 was the year Philip graduated from Brown University, which was located in Providence, Rhode Island. Philip graduated with a four year degree as a chemist. [3] The title of his graduation yearbook in 1920 was "Liber Brunensis" listing all those who graduated with him appears within his profile. [3]

1925 Philip proposes to Dorothy Morgan and the wedding date is set for the 14th of Apr 1925. The big event is going to occur in Manhattan, New York, New York, USA. Philip is 25 and this is his first marriage while the bridge is 21 and her first marriage. The couple will settle in New Jersey after the wedding. [4]

1927 Jan 10 1927, the Cox's welcomed their first child a girl which they named Carol Eaton Cox into the family. Carol was born in Orange, Essex County, New Jersey. Carol's middle name Eaton came from Dorothy's mother's maiden name "Eaton". [7] [12]

1928 On July 19th 1928 Dorothy and Philip were anxiously awaiting the birth of their second child at Orange Memorial Hospital, in the City of Orange, Essex County, New Jersey. Finally Dr. Chas. D. Moulton came in to tell Philip that his wife had given birth to a healthy, beautiful baby girl. The Cox's were so excited they had previously chosen names for both boys and girls. The girls name they had chosen was Patricia Gene Cox. [11]

1930 The 1930 Federal Census Shows the family residence as Bloomfield, Essex, New Jersey, USA. Also shows the family owns a home and the value if it were rented out would be $55.00 a month. Both Dorothy and Philip can read and write and neither have attended college since 1 Sep 1929. [5]

1935 According to the Montclair, New Jersey, City Directory for 1935 Philip & Dorothy resided at 95 Berkeley Ave, Montclair, Bloomfield, New Jersey. Philip was employed as a Research Chemist. [14]

1940 Philip Cox has a new wife in the 1940 Federal Census and a one year old daughter. He is now renting a house instead of owning one. In addition, he moved from Bloomfield New Jersey back to Montclair New Jersey where he was born. Dorothy remarried in 1938, so they were divorced for a few years. [6]

1946 On the 25th of Aug 1946, Philip walked his daughter Patricia down the aisle into the arms of the man she chose to spend the rest of her life with. This of course was John Charles Gilchrist. This was the most important day in Patricia's young life and she only had eye's for John Charles. The wedding was held in Sunapee, Sullivan Co., New Hampshire. [8]

1947 Carol Eaton Cox marries on 6 Dec 1947 to Ralph G. Chadbourne, Norwich, Windsor, Vermont, USA. [13]

1955 The U.S. City Directories for 1955 show Philips employers address as Bloomfield, New Jersey, USA., while his home address is 30 Hyde road Bloomfield, New Jersey, USA. [9]

1975 Philip Cox Jr passed away in Nov 1975 according to the Social Security Death Index. [10]
