Biography

James Cox was born in Appalachia, in South Carolina. See Appalachia Project.

James Alfred Cox, son of Joseph Newton Cox and Cynthia (Parsons) Cox, was born on 10 March 1873 at Anderson County, South Carolina.[1][2]

He married Martha Ann Garrison, daughter of David Garrison and Mary Jane (Mattison) Garrison.[2]

He married Maggie Jeanett Mattison,[1] daughter of William Halbert Mattison and Emmaline (Ramsey) Mattison,[2]

James died on 3 March 1963 at Anderson, Anderson County, South Carolina and was buried at Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Belton, Anderson County, South Carolina.[1] His memorial has a photo of his headstone and links to those of family members.[2]
