16. Obit: Wilford Cox Services for Wilford F. "Bill" Cox, 90, of 1924 W. Pleasant St., Davenport, will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at McGinnis Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery. Visitation is 7 to 9 p.m. today. Mr. Cox died Sunday at Clinton, Iowa, Retirement Village. He retired as a machine operator for various area factories, including Rockingham Machine Co. He later was employed by Shaw Electric Inc., Davenport. Mr. Cox married Caroline Anderson in 1942 in Davenport. Survivors include his wife; stepsons, Robert E. Graham, Davenport, and Frank Graham, Bettendorf; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Daisy Stewart, Rockford, IL. (Quad City Times, Feb., 9, 1987, p. 8)

He had resided there for several years due to failing health. Bill was born March 28, 1897 at Burchard, NE., and grew to manhood here. His parents were Elmer and Margaret Simpson Cox. He is survived by his wife Carolyn, of 1924 West Pleasant St., Davenport, IA., two stepsons, nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren; a sister, Daisie Stewart of Rockford, IL., many neices and nephews and many cousins. Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 10 at Davenport and burial was in Oakdale Cemetery at Davenport, IA. (1987)
