George Scott Cox was born on June 3, 1830 in Launceston, Colony of Tasmania, son of Joseph Brooks Cox (1802–1874) and Matilda Rose Wise (~1802–1883).[1]

George (32) married Theresa Mary Diprose (18) (born on December 23, 1843 in Launceston; daughter of Isaac Diprose and Elizabeth (French) Diprose) on June 7, 1862 in Forest Creek, Deloraine, Tasmania. Their children were:

George died on November 30, 1903 in Sheffield, Tasmania, Australia, aged 73.[1] He was buried in Sheffield Cemetery, Sheffield, Tasmania.
