Biography
Hannah Cox was born 9 Feb 1845 in West Bromwich, Staffordshire, England to Benjamin Cox and Mary (Stephens) Cox. Her birth was registered in West Bromwich in the first quarter of the year, with mother's maiden name Stephens.[1]
Hannah was christened at Christ Church, West Bromwich on 9 Mar 1845.[2]
In 1851 Hannah Cox (age 6, Scholar) lived at Hargate Lane in West Bromwich with her grandmother Sarah Stevens (77), father Benjamin Cox (43, Whitesmith), mother Mary (42), and five siblings: Mary (19, Nailor), Priscella (17, House Servant), Sarah (15, Nailor), Charles (9, Scholar), and John (3).[3]
In 1861 Hannah Cox (age 16) and her sister Prescilla (21[27]) were domestic servants in the household of John Cottersill at Lyndon in West Bromwich.[4]
Hannah Cox married Charles Williams in 1865. The marriage was registered in West Bromwich in the last quarter of the year.[5]
Hannah and Charles had at least five children: Mary Ann Williams (1866-), Jane Williams (1868-1868), Jemuel Williams (1869-), Elizabeth Williams (1872-bef.1881), and Ada Williams (1883-).
In 1871 Hannah Williams (age 26) lived in Middleton Cheney with her husband Charles (26, Agricultural Labourer) and two children: Mary Ann (4) and Samuel (2).[6]
In 1881 Hannah Williams (age 36) lived at Palmerston St in Manchester, Lancashire with her husband Charls (36, Brick Maker) and two children: Mary Ann (14, Scholar) and Samuel (12, Scholar), as well as father-in-law John Williams (64, Unemployed, Widower).[7]
In 1891 Hannah Williams (age 47) lived at Rowland Street in Beswick, Lancashire with her husband Charles (47, Coal Merchant) and three children: James (22, Waggonette Driver), Mary (24, Housemaid), and Ada (8, Scholar).[8]
In 1901 Hannah Williams (55) lived at Rowland Street in North Manchester with her husband Charles (55, Coal Dealer) and two daughters: Mary (29[34]) and Ada (18, Skirt Machinist).[9]
In 1911 Hannah William (age 66) lived in Beswick, North Manchester with her husband Charles (66, Coal Dealer) and two daughters: Mary Ann (44, Skirt Maker) and Ada (28, Office Cleaner).[10]
