Moses Icabod CoxOX was born on May 6, 1756, in Duplin County, North Carolina, his father, Charles Icabod Cox (1720-1771) and his mother,Rebecca Seymour (1735-1771). He married Martha "Patsy" Avent in 1786 in Chatham County, North Carolina. He died on December 19, 1845 in Washington, Georgia and buried in Pierce Family Cemetery, Washington County, Georgia.

Served as a scout for three years in the 2nd NC Regt.; Corporal. Fought at battles of Moore's Creek Bridge in NC, Brier Creek in GA, and Catawba in NC.
