Mary Cox is the daughter of Robert Cox of Fonthill Abbey. [1]
Mary married Christopher Wren, Sr. (1591-1658), son of Francis Wren, a London mercer. Christopher Wren, Sr. became Rector of Fonthill, Wilthshire in 1620 and of East Knoyle in 1623. In 1639, he was also appointed dean of the collegiat church of Wolverhampton and Rector of Haseley, Oxfordshire. He died on May 29, 1658, at Bletchingdon, Oxfordshire.
Mary and Christopher were the parents of at least three children, Susan Wren, Christopher Wren, Jr. (1632-1723), the famed architect, and Elizabeth Wren, born December 26, 1634. [2]
According to a biography of Christopher Wren, Jr. the exact date of Mary's death is not known, other than it was after the birth of his younger sister in 1634. "The boy's father lived to help and watch his progress for twenty-six years, and an elder sister, Susan, took the mother's place." [3]
