Biography

Sinthia was born in 1790/1795.. She was the daughter of C. Coyle and Elizabeth Pate. She passed away sometime before February 1821.

Synthia's last name in records has been found spelled as Choil and Coil.

If Nathan Jobe and Synthia had any children, they did not survive and none of Nathan's descendants remembers them.

  • Will of Michael Coyle dated 4 Nov 1814 and recorded 2 Jan 1816
  • Deed Book A & B, page 231 - Madison Co., Alabma
  • Witnesses: Thomas Eldridge and Robert Haden

Appraisers of Estate: Robert Haden, David Uselton (?), Samuel Acles (Echols?), Samuel Standefer and Peyton Cox--Nov 20, 1815

(I have more on this!!)

NOTE: After sending Carole a transcribed copy of the will - Letter from Dr. Carole J. Allen dated Jan 30, 2001

"As you can see, he names all of his children in his will--but you have to use some imagination.

First he names the 5 youngest boys--William, Benjamin, Ervin (Alexander Irvin),Lack (Jack), and Stephen. He then names his three oldest sons, Robert, James and Michael. Then he names his daughters, married ones first: Irally?,True(Nellie True), Permelia Quinn (Permelia Gum), Sinthia Jobe (Terthinia Jobe),then the unmarried ones, Lucy and Eliza.

Agree?

Interesting that Lucy, age about 15, and Eliza, age about 12, seem to be unmarried but are not mentioned as to under whose care they will be. Maybe they were with a relative.

NOTE: 1820 census shows a woman born 1794-1804 with Nathan. Nathan didn't marry his 3rd wife until February 27, 1821 so this is not her. We do not know when Synthia died. For now it is reasonable to assume that this is her. Since she married Nathan in November 1812, I'm going to 'guess' that she was born 1796/98 time frame since most Coyle resercher have her mother born in 1783. Synthia also has a brother born in 1804.
