Mrs Kelly had been previously convicted breach of the peace. Inspector Barnett, who prosecuted, said it was an ordinary squabble with wemen’s tongues with a lot of bad language. Mrs Kelly stated that Mrs Brown and her husband quarrelled and Mrs Kelly rushed into her (Mrs Brown’s) house. When she lifted up Mrs Brown up to put her out, she used bad language and made a noise. Mrs Brown, on the other hand, said Mrs Kelly dashed the door in her face and afterwards came up to the window and squared up her arms, and wanted her out to fight. The magistrate fined Mrs Kelly 7s6d and Mrs Brown 5s, the alternative being 3 days in prison.
