Biography

Laura was born in Berea, Kentucky, 1883. She was the daughter of Joseph and Sallie Ann (Coyle) Coyle of Berea, Kentucky, and the sister of Albert, Serena, Candace, Telitha, Angeline, Rufus, Julian, Charles, John, and Elmer Frank. She attended Berea College's Foundation School and Berea College from 1891 to 1914 and received a degree in Music. She also attended the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. Laura was a pianist at the Berea Christian Church and piano teacher. She married Robert Henry Chrisman of Berea in 1900. Their children were Neva, Edith, Ray, Bill, Clara, Bob, and John. Laura and Robert separated in the 1927 and divorced in 1930. Laura and her youngest son, John, lived in Lakewood, Ohio. Later they moved to New York City and lived near her daughter, Neva. Laura died in New York in 1967 and is buried with her family in the Berea Cemetery, Berea, Kentucky.
