Biography

Cassius was the son of Abraham Lincoln "Link" and Sarah M. (Freed) Coyle of Gridley, Illinois. He was born in 1904 in Gridley. His brothers were Henry Roswell, Marcus Wayne, William Donald, and Abraham Lincoln, Jr. Cassius' mother died in 1914 when he was 10 years old. In 1920, Cassius was living with his mother's relatives, Clarence and Mattie Freed, in Gridley.

Cassius married Eva Catharine Flynn, daughter of John and Mary Flynn, in 1926. The couple moved to Solano County, California where Cassius worked as a radio operator in a shipyard in Vallejo. Their daughter, Arlene, was born there in 1928. Their daughter, Jeanine, was born in the Panama Canal Zone in 1938. Cassius served in the US Navy in World Wars I and II. He died in 1972 and is buried in National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Hawaii.
