Biography

Johannes was born in 1707. His birth is recorded in the Pfungstadt church records but the date of his arrival in America is unknown. His name does not appear on any of the ships’ lists as found in the German Pioneers records. Since they only listed the passengers who were 16 years of age and older it is possible that he arrived in 1718 with his older brother Johan Nicklas when he would have been 11 years old. It is certain that he was in America in 1730 as the church records of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Trappe, Pennsylvania show that he and his wife presented their oldest child for baptism on 27 June 1730. Johannes Crössman passed away in 1786. [1]
