↑ Abraham Crabtree was the second brother to settle in the early years of southwest section of Daviess County, KY. He was a farmer owning a farm valued at $1000.
The brothers were the first settlers in the area kown as Ohio County, KY. Later the area became Vanover Precinct of Daviess County, KY. The four brothers--Moses, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob Crabtree were born in Virginia and the family is of German descent. Moses was the oldest of the family, and was a young married man, the others being in their teens. They all came at the same time, but the exact date of their settlement is not certainly know. The Crabtree brothers settled in the western part of the precinct. This part of the of the county was thinly settled for a long time. Moses became the father of sixteen children. Thirteen children and other relatives were named in his last will dated 16 Apr 1855.
