She married Sampson Lay.

In the 1860 US census, Martha Lay (age 33, born 1827 in Tennessee) was living in Anderson, Tennessee, with husband Sampson Lay (35), and children John (10), Levin (9), David (7), Elizabeth J (5), Martha (4), Nancy (1) and Mary.^[2]

In the 1930 US census, Martha Lay (age 97, born about 1833 in Tennessee), widow, was living in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with daughter Elizabeth Tadlock (47) and granddaughter Alma Tadlock (15).^[3]

Martha Lay, born 10 Aug 1827 in Bolivar, Tennessee, died on 24 Aug 1940 at age 113 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, United States.^[4]

In the 1880 US census, Martha Lay (age 53, born about 1827 in Tennessee) was living in Anderson, Tennessee, with Sampson Lay (53) and children Martha (20), George (16) and Noah (11).^[5] This Sampson Lay died in 1905.
