Biography
Frederick Horatio was born in 1869. He is the son of James Crafar and Sarah Ann Unknown.[1]. Frederick Crafar Age 2 born Northampton-(Cert.No.296). was on the 1871 Census Records, in Northampton, St.Giles Parish (together with brother William(7) born Erith,Kent, sister Eliza( ) born Northampton,Father listed as "head of family" James Crafer,mother Sarah Anne listed as wife.)
He emigrated in NZ with his parents in 1874, arriving aboard the Sussex, into Port Otago, on July 17, but is mis-identified on the ships manifest as "Rachael".
He passed away in 1875 age 6 [2]
Kath Milne (nee Crafar) stated in Feb.1981 " Records show that the second son of James and Sarah Crafer,registered in Northampton as Frederick HORATIO 2nd May 1869, appearing on the'Sussex' passenger list as 'Rachel', died in Lyttleton of "Gastric Fever" on the 12th January 1875" [3]
