Biography

Margaret [or Mary] Craft is assumed born about 1700 in New Jersey [now United States]. Her parents were Thomas and Margaret Craft.[1]

Various online family trees list her as born 1699, but no source is identified for this nor for her first name. Margaret is plausible as that was her mother's name. But it is also known that she had a daughter named Mary, and that is also sometimes listed as her name. It is unlikely that she had two names as that was uncommon.

She married David Rockhill (born 1698). He is listed as son-in-law to her father Thomas Craft of Mansfield Township, Burlington, New Jersey, in the latter's will dated 1734/35.[1] They probably married around 1720, based on his age and birth of their children.

They had three children based on David's 1776 will: Amos, Mary and Thomas. It is possible there was a fourth who died before 1776, and had daughter Abigail.[2]

Margaret is assumed to have died before 1758, as David Rockhill then married Ann Aarison on 30 Aug 1758 in Monmouth, New Jersey.[3]

Craft-1103 and Craft-1102 appear to represent the same person because: Same last name. Both married same husband David Rockhill. Similar first names (Margaret Mary or Mary), neither is known for certain. Little is known about this person outside of her husband and likely children, but there is no reason to think they were two such persons. Their listed children are complementary and align with David's will.
