Birth and Origins

John French Craig was the son of John Craig (of Napier, N Z) and Mrs Craig (of Queen's Parade, Bangor, County Down). He was born about 1897.


Marriage and Family

He married Helen Watters Chapman on 12 September at Kilbride Parish Church.

"Helen Watters 1897 (married Dr John Graig 1922); Dorothy Eliza Frances 1899 (died 1911); John Wilgar 1901; Ida Mary Isobel 1904."[1]

"Craig—Chapman—September 12, 1922, at Kilbride Parish Church, by the Rev. S. T. Nesbitt, assisted by Rev. P. E. Major, Rev. W. J. Cunie, and Rev. H. Jamison—John French, son of the late John Craig, late of Napier, N.Z. and Mrs. Craig, Queen's Parade, Bangor, County Down, to Helen Watters, elder daughter of John Wilgar Chapman, Northern Bank, Ballyclare."[2]

Interests

John French Craig M.D. W.M. was treasurer of the Century Masonic Lodge (Belfast) in 1935[3]

He was a medical doctor.

He passed away after 1941.

Research Notes

"JOHN FRENCH CRAIG, of 11. Bryansburn Road, Bangor, County Down, Medical Doctor" was a executor of the will of "ELIZABETH McKEE, late of 52, Seacllffe Road, Bangor, County Down, Spinster. Deceased" & unmarried daughter of the late "Dr. James McKee" (buried at First Randalstown Presbyterian Church". She "died on the 12th day of March, 1941, by her Will dated the 1st day of May, 1930."[4]

It's probable that John is a relative or close family friend.
