Beanna (Craig) Henson is a part of US Black heritage.

Her name is recorded as Beanna or Bunie.

As Beunell Creeg, she was recorded at age 11, born June 1889. Her father William S. Creeg was age 44, b. Maryland. Her mother Kate Creeg was age 37, b Maryland. Her sister Lottie E. Creeg was age 8, b. Maryland. [1]

As Bunie Henson, she is recorded in the 1910 Census in the household of her father William S Craig in Charles County, Maryland. William S. Craig, black, age 54, married (1st marriage) for 35 years, born in Maryland. Bunie Henson, his daughter, was age 19, married 2 years, mother of 1, 1 then living (her child was not in the household; this would be Wilmena of the 1920 Census). His daughter Lottie E. Craig was age 17, black, single, born in Maryland. His daughter Lessie I Craig was age 8, black, born in Maryland. Housekeeper Kate Turner was age 48, black, born in Maryland. Isaac Henson, hired boy, was age 12, black, born in Maryland.[2]

She married James F Henson 4 Aug 1916 in the District of Columbia.[3]

As Beanna Henson, she is recorded in the 1920 Census for Charles County, Maryland. The head of household was James F. Henson, listed as stepfather to three of Beanna V. Henson's children. James was age 37, black, born in Maryland, occupation timber laborer. His wife Beanna V. was age 27, black, born in Maryland. Their son Russell Henson was age 1, born in Pennsylvania. James's stepchildren were: Wilmena Henson, age 10, black, born in Maryland, Thomas Henson, age 7, born in Pennsylvania; Earnest Henson, age 5, born in Maryland. James's sister-in-law, Lessie O. Craig, age 17, single, b in Maryland, was also in the household.[4]

As Beulah Henson, she was enumerated in the District of Columbia in 1940. She was age 48, negro, listed as married, born in Maryland, working as a chambermaid in Providence Hospital.

Family in 1940: son Hampton Henson, age 15, daughter Lillian Henson, age 8, daughter Wilahelmina Small, age 30, widowed, b Maryland, working as a laundress in a steam laundry. Then follows the family of her son Thomas Henson, age 26, negro, b. Pennsylvania, working as a truck driver for a hauling and storage company. Thomas's wife Geneva Henson was age 27, born in the District of Columbia. Their son Thomas Henson Jr. was age 7, born in the District of Columbia. Their son Melvin Henson was age 6, b. in D. C. Their son Paul Henson was age 2, born in D. C. Their son Stanard Henson was age 1, born in the D of C.[5]

Research Notes

Milton E. Craig, age 19, born in the District of Columbia, was listed as the nephew of head of household Thomas Henson, age 64 b Maryland and his wife Minnie Henson age 62 b Maryland. Thomas had a brother Richard Henson, age 45 b Md. The three males in the household were in a furniture moving business in Washington, D. C. in 1930.[6]
