Freeman was born in Massachusetts in 1794. He passed away in 1876. In 18 March 1816 he married Sylvia Delano in Sydney, Kennebec, Massachusetts.[1]
Freeman Craig was living in Coreena, Somerset, Maine in 1820.[2] In 1830 he was living in Wellington, Somerset, Maine.[3] In 1840, Freeman was living in Piscataquis, Maine.[4] In 1860, "Freemont" Craig, age 66, born 1794 in Maine, was living in Lima, Sheboygan, Wisconsin near the Onion River Post Office in the household of John B. Craig aged 27 and Nancy M. Craig aged 20, Also living with them was Freeman's wife Sylva Craig aged 64.[5] In 1870, "Ferman" Craig was head of household age 76 with no occupation, born 1794 in Maine, living in Lima, Sheboygan, Wisconsin near the Sheboygan Falls Post Office. Living with him was John Craig, 37, Nancy Craig, 27, Alice Craig 3, Willie Craig 1, and Freddie Warner 23.[6] Freeman Craig enlisted into the 21st infantry as a private under Capt. J.H. Vose in Col. Ripley's company 2 July 1872 as a private.[7] Freeman had also served in the War of 1812 in the First Regiment of Sherwin's Massachusetts Militia as a private.[8]
