Biography

Jane Brown Craig, the daughter of coalminer Robert Craig and Margaret Frew. The family lived at both Bensley, Kilwinning and McDonald’s Row in Dalry. On the night of the 1871 Census, Margaret is widowed and raising the children in Kilbirnie, Ayr. Jane is working in the Textile industry asa Flax Thread worker. Again in 1881 she is found with her mother & siblings living in Irvine, Ayr.

We don’t find Jane again until her unfortunate death in 1903 while residing in New South Wales, Australia.
