Biography

Eliza was born in Dixmont, Maine, in 1817, the daughter of George Craig and Betsey Mudgett. (Her birth date is based on her age at the time of her death - 80 years, 8 months and 20 days.)

She married Joseph Mudgett Carter. They lived in Dixmont, Maine, in 1850,^[1] but removed to Troy, Maine, by 1860,^[2] where they remained throughout the rest of their lives. Joseph worked as a farmer.

Eliza died in 1898, at the age of 80. She was buried at the Jewell Cemetery in Dixmont, Maine.^[3]
