Eliza was born in Dixmont, Maine, in 1817, the daughter of George Craig and Betsey Mudgett. (Her birth date is based on her age at the time of her death - 80 years, 8 months and 20 days.)
She married Joseph Mudgett Carter. They lived in Dixmont, Maine, in 1850,[1] but removed to Troy, Maine, by 1860,[2] where they remained throughout the rest of their lives. Joseph worked as a farmer.
Eliza died in 1898, at the age of 80. She was buried at the Jewell Cemetery in Dixmont, Maine.[3]
