Biography

Andrew was born in 1694. He passed away in 1763.

Our descent continues through Andrew Craig Jr., who was born in 1694 in Elizabethtown. There he married Lydia, who was born in 1698. They remained in the area, where Andrew was a yeoman farmer. According to Little in “First Settlers of the Passaic Valley”, Andrew lived in Westfield Township. For many years he was an alderman for the borough of Elizabeth. In 1740 and 1750 he served on the town committee. Lydia died on September 17, 1758 and was buried in the Westfield Cemetery in Westfield New Jersey. Andrew then married a second time to a woman named Hannah. Andrew died July 14, 1763 and was buried beside his wife Lydia at Westfield. Andrew’s Will dated May 25, 1763 is abstracted in the “Abstracts of New Jersey Colonial Records” and the executor’s Inventory of the Estate valued assets at £270.8.11
