Biography

Alexander is the son of Joseph, son of Richard, son of Joseph, son of Capt. Ambrose

Alexander was a son of Dr. Joseph and Rebecca Gibson (Wills) Crain. His g-grandfather was Ambrose Crain, a Capt. in the N.J. Reg't during the Revolutionary War.

Alexander attended the State College of Pennsylvania, and in 1872 came west to the Creek nation in Indian Terriory. In 1880 at Sasakwa he married Lucy Brown, a half-blood Seminole and a sister of Gov. John F. Brown. They had three children, Anna, Allan and Ambrose.

Alexander served as Treasurer of the OK Seminole Nation for several years. He owned a farm in the Northwestern part of Seminole county near the Canadian River. Source: "A STANDARD HISTORY OF OKLAHOMA, V. 5", 1916, Joseph B. Thoburn.
