PENNA. FIREMAN INSTANTLY KILLED

"David E. Cramblett, age about 26 years, of 413-A South Eighth street, Pennsylvania railroad fireman, was instantly killed Saturday morning at 6:30 o'clock when struck by a beam of bridge No. 26 on the Walhonding division of the Pennsylvania Railroad Company while returning with his train to Cambridge from Mansfield.

Mr. Cramblett leaned from the gangway of the engine while crossing the bridge and was struck across the head. His neck was broken and skull fractured. The body was hurled from the engine to the Waukeegan river some distance below where it alighted in the water near the bank. The accident was not witnessed by any member of the train crew, but the absence of the fireman was discovered by Engineer John McPeek shortly after crossing the bridge. The train was brought to a stop and when inquiries failed to disclose his whereabouts, members of the train crew returned to the bridge and instituted a search. The lifeless body was found shortly afterward.

Mr. Cramblett left Cambridge Thursday with his train crew for Mansfield and reported form the latter place for Cambridge Saturday morning at 12:30 o'clock. The remains were brought to Cambridge Saturday afternoon at 12:30 o'clock; and were removed to the Stevens morgue on South Eighth street where they were prepared for burial. The coroner of Coshocton county viewed the body before it was removed. Mr. Cramblett has been in the service of the Pennsylvania Railroad company for some time and was held in high esteem among those with whom he was associated.

The announcement of his tragic death reached Cambridge, Saturday morning through the Pennsylvania Railroad company. He had been a resident of Cambridge for some time and is survived by his widow and two children."[1]
