Communication Preferences: I am interested in communicating private message with cousins and anyone else with an interest in genealogy. Here is my family tree.
I'm trying to take care of multiple trees at the same time. I'm lacking in a lot of areas on sources and such, but I'm continuing to work on it and hope that one day I shall succeed.

I continue to find more and more family, but get especially excited when I find that I am connected in some way with a notable person.

I've been working on my family history and genealogy since 1977 after watching ROOTS which was about Alex Haley's story. It made me wonder who I was, where my ancestors came from and who they were. I also was curious as to whether I was related to anyone famous or infamous.

I'm a daughter, sister, sister in law, mother, step mother, aunt, niece, wife, grandmother, step grandmother and step great grandmother.

High school educated, not college educated, but trade school educated. I have plenty of life experience and have learned plenty through the School of Hard Knocks.

Hi!

This is Chris from the Italy Project. As part of the annual project check-in, can you fill in the project survey? This will let us know that you are still interested in the project and which teams you'd like to participate in.

Thanks and have a great day!

Hi Marsha, I notice you have recently created a pre-1700 profile using only geni.com as a source and attached it as father to another well sourced profile that clearly states the father had a different name. You might want to review the pre-1700 information to ensure that you are using reliable sources for profiles you create within this time period. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Pre-1700_Profiles If you would like to learn more about reliable sources for pre-1700 English profiles you might like to consider joining the England Project and participating in the Orphan Trail. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:England Cheers, Elizabeth :-)

Ciao! This is just a general check-in for members of the Italy project. I am checking to see who is still interested in being a member of the project as we go through some much needed restructuring. I was also wondering what teams you would like to be on. We’ve created teams for each part of Italy. North, South, Islands etc. They will be explained further in an upcoming g2g post. Stay tuned. For now, please let me know if you are still interested in the project and if you’d like to be a member of a team.

Hi Marsha,

The McGuire connection is the thinnest and least reliable on my father’s side. My father died when I was 12 and left only a little information. My grandfather may have been Michael Thomas McGuire Dec 13, 1879 ( or Thomas Michael) as recorded in a few documents including my father’s birth certificate and also an employment form April 23, 1919. My grandmother listed her status as married in 1920 with my father as an infant but living at home with her parents. According to my father there were half siblings but that’s all I know. DNA hints at another path with a Ralph McGuire who was a widower at the time of my father’s birth and that my father was named Raphnel but I have no proof of Ralph as a grandfather. Hope any of this helps. Best regards, Dennis McGuire

On 4/30/1754 in the meeting minutes it was written "The overseers of New Providence report that Moses Starr continues his disorderly practice Richard Jacobs and Israel Jacobs prepare to testify against him." Testifications were read against Moses on 6/25/1754 at the monthly meeting. After this time Moses is no longer named in the Quaker meeting records. He was disowned. I don't think that Sarah Davis died then, I think she remarried but I have to check.

Here is more in case the PM didn't make it.

Moses and Sarah had trouble in their marriage which is noted in the Quaker meeting minutes on 6/25/1747 "Friends of New Providence notice some difference between Moses Starr and wife and her father ..." Friends were sent to visit and were to meet at her father's house on the 4th of September next. It was reported on 8/27/1747 that the couple were advised and appeared to have complied with On 3/27/1753 it was noted in the minutes that there was some trouble with Moses and his brother Samuel and the friends requested more time to treat with them.

Here is a view to a Quaker meeting in 1747 that talks about the trouble in their marriage. You should be able to view it without an ancestry account https://www.ancestry.com/sharing/16105156?h=eaa714

Hi Cuz,

I think this guy is our common ancestor. Moses Starr ** Sr (1720 - 1794) Son of James Starr, ** Quaker Elder. It is harder to trace him after he left the Quakers and married our G+ grandma Margaret Quattlebaum. Interesting circumstances around his "falling out" with Sarah Davis/David. I would love to know more about that. :)

Hi, Marsha. I'm trying to sort out the Bryan family in England and note that you recently added Sir Francis Bryan as father of [[Bryan-73 |Sir Francis Bryan II]. After a lot of discussion that relationship was removed last year. Have you new sources to add to the story? As far as I know Sir Francis Bryan II is unknown to History.
