Frank Richmond Crandall was born 15 November 1862 in Northfield, Washtenaw, Michigan, the son of David Freeman Crandal (1827–1873) and Caroline M. Simmons Boyd (1828–1913).
He first married Mary Elizabeth "Libby" Richmond (about 1862 -19 March 1889) on 6 December 1882 They children:

He second married Ella Amelia Yerkes. Their children:

He died 6 May 1916 and is buried at Lakeview Cemetery, Howell, Livingston County, Michigan.
