Biography

Eber Crandall was born in 1705 in Rhode Island, the son of Eber Crandall and Patience Lanphere.[1][2] He may also (incorrectly) be referred to as Ebenezer.

Eber and Mary Long were married on 10 Feb 1732[1][3] in South Kingstown, Rhode Island by Robert Hannah, JP.[2][4]

Eber and Mary had the following children:[1]

  • Elizabeth b.1734;
  • Amy b.1736;
  • Desire b.1739;
  • Eber b.1742;
  • Thankful b.1743;
  • Benjamin b.1748;
  • Mary b.1750;
  • Aprahinah b.1752.

Eber served in the Old French & Indian War in Col. Babcock's Co. in 1759.[5]

Eber's date of death is unknown. He likely died after 1752 (child born that year). A possible date of death is 13 Mar 1741 in South Kingstown, Washington County, Rhode Island, but there is no supporting evidence for this date.[6]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Eber by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Eber:

Crandall-948 and Crandall-31 appear to represent the same person because: I believe Crandall-948 is the same person as Eber Crandall because: they have the same DOB and parents, neither has a definitive/sourced DOD, several sources name the four children of Eber and Patience (Lanphere) Crandall as John, Eber, Samuel and Joseph (Ebezezer is not named) .
